The Problem
Your machine is ready.
The jobs just canβt find you.
Youβve invested serious money in your gear. Maybe itβs a 3D printer that runs a few hours a week. A laser cutter that could be earning between jobs. A CNC router thatβs mostly making things for mates at cost.
The tools to make almost anything exist in garages and workshops right across Australia. But thereβs no easy way for the people who need things made to find you.
Etsy and weekend markets have you competing on price for the same generic stuff. Trade platforms charge you just to see a lead β before youβve won a cent. And word-of-mouth only goes so far.
Every day, jobs that could be made right here in Australia go offshore β not because thereβs no one who can do them, but because no one could find them. Sometimes that person is just down the road. Sometimes further. Either way, we want to make that connection.
The Idea
The missing link between βI need this madeβ and βI can make that.β
Our vision is a platform where everyday Australians β people with a sketch, a broken part, a product idea, or a small production run β can find a local maker who has the right machines and skills to help them.
We handle the hard part of making that connection. You focus on making.
You only pay when weβve actually done something useful.
Most lead platforms have a dirty little secret: you pay to compete. You spend money just to see a job, then compete against five others for it. If you donβt win, that moneyβs gone.
Weβre designing FindARobot so the risk sits with us, not with you. A model thatβs genuinely fair to makers β where you only contribute when the platform has actually delivered something worth paying for.
Beyond the first job, we step back. We made the introduction. What happens next is between you and the client. If they come back for more work down the track, that's yours β we have no intention of inserting ourselves into your ongoing business.
No subscriptions. No listing fees. No racing to the bottom.
Who We're Looking For
Hobbyists, side‑hustlers, small/large businesses, factories.
If you make things with a robot, we want to hear from you. We're looking to build a network of Australian machine owners across all levels:
Hobbyists
3D printers, desktop lasers, vinyl cutters, Cricuts. Great for small, personal, and one-off jobs.
Pros
CNC routers, professional CO2 lasers, large-format resin printers. Capable of more complex and semi-commercial work.
Factories
Industrial and professional equipment with spare capacity. Waterjets, plasma cutters, 5-axis CNCs, large-format, latex and UV printers.
If you own a machine and you're interested in putting it to work, we'd love to have you on board from day one.
Why an EOI?
Because a marketplace with no one in it is just a website.
FindARobot is being built from the ground up β a solo operation, bootstrapped, with the goal of keeping it lean and sustainable from day one. Before pouring time and money into the full platform, we want to know that this is actually something people want.
That's what this EOI is about:
-
Validation. We want to know there are enough Wranglers across Australia who think this is worth their time. If there aren't, it's better to find that out now.
-
A network ready to launch. A marketplace with no makers on day one isn't a marketplace. We'd need a solid base of Wranglers ready to go before we open the doors to clients.
-
Partner support. Demonstrating an engaged community of active makers is what would allow us to bring in partners β suppliers and services you actually use β who can help keep the platform's costs covered without passing them on to you.
That's the whole pitch. The rest is below.
What will it cost me?
Nothing to register, nothing to quote. You only pay when you win work, and the fee scales with the job β a 3D-printed keyring shouldn't cost the same as a kitchen's worth of cabinetry. Founding Wranglers get their first jobs free, so you can see the whole thing work before you spend anything. Full pricing lands in your inbox before anyone outside this list sees it.
Will I actually get work out of this?
No idea yet β that's what the EOI is for. Nobody's quitting their day job over this. Think of it as filling the gaps around what you're already doing.
When will FindARobot launch?
When there are enough Wranglers to make it worth opening. We're not inventing a date to sound convincing β if the interest isn't there, it doesn't launch, and we'd rather find that out now than after burning a year on it. Registering is what moves the needle.
Will you take a cut of my ongoing work with a client?
No. We get paid for making the introduction. After that the client is yours β repeat work, referrals, all of it. We're not interested in being a middleman you have to keep paying.
Does the work actually have to be made in Australia?
Yes. The machine, the labour, all of it, here. Offshore a job and you're out β it's the one rule with no second chances.
Who's actually building this?
One bloke in Perth. No investors, no team, no board meetings. Read the full story β
Will my details be sold or handed to anyone else?
No. Never sold, never passed on β not to partners, not to anyone. The long version is in the Privacy Policy.
